Jailed unjustly, but won’t back down: Ambati Rambabu

Rajamahendravaram, Feb 18: Former minister Ambati Rambabu, who was released on bail after spending 18 days in Rajahmundry Central Prison, declared that he would not retreat despite politically motivated cases and harassment. Speaking to the media outside the jail along with party leaders who welcomed him, he said the victim was jailed while those responsible for attacks walked free, and that he was targeted even after his house was vandalised, vehicles were burnt, and his family was threatened. He stated that the intention was to intimidate him by keeping him in jail for 18 days, but asserted that he has no fear and remains resolute.
Rambabu said he entered politics inspired by Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy and would continue his fight without stepping back even if more cases are filed. He described the jail as a place that strengthened his determination and said changing political circumstances would deliver justice in time. He emphasized that those who attacked received station bail while he, the victim, spent over two weeks in jail before securing bail. He affirmed his unwavering loyalty to Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy said he would present full facts before the public, adding that truth and justice would ultimately prevail.
YSRCP leaders who spoke alongside him said Rambabu’s confidence stems from not having committed any wrongdoing and maintained that the party would not be intimidated by cases or arrests. They criticised the arrest following attacks on his residence, called it vindictive politics, and said the episode reflects the deteriorating law and order situation in the state. They also stated that despite apologies and restraint from Rambabu, he was jailed while attackers faced little consequence, and warned that people are closely watching these developments.
