Tadepalli, Dec 19: YSR Congress Party spokesperson and former MP Gorantla Madhav strongly condemned the coalition government for what he described as selective policing and an undeclared emergency-like situation in Andhra Pradesh. Speaking to the media outside the Tadepalli Police Station after appearing for inquiry along with party state spokesperson Y. Nagarjuna Yadav, Madhav said cases are being foisted on YSRCP leaders merely for questioning government failures, while complaints against ruling coalition leaders who abuse former Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy and YSRCP leaders in filthy language are not even being registered. He questioned whether the government has the courage to accept complaints filed by YSRCP leaders and demanded that the DGP ensure registration of cases on all such complaints across the state. Gorantla Madhav said Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu’s governance resembles an undeclared emergency, trampling upon civil liberties and freedom of expression. Unable to answer questions on its failures, the government is resorting to intimidation through false cases, he said, adding that YSRCP leaders will not be deterred and will question the government even more forcefully. The former MP clarified that he never used abusive language against Minister Nara Lokesh and had only questioned him in the Rayalaseema dialect over the failure to implement “Super Six” promises and cuts in the “Thalliki Vandanam” scheme. YSRCP spokesperson Y. Nagarjuna Yadav stated that Gorantla Madhav, who served in senior government positions, knows how to speak responsibly and that portraying dialect-based criticism as abuse is unjust. He pointed out that while YSRCP leaders are targeted for criticism, individuals who routinely hurl obscene abuses at Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy and party leaders on social media face no action, calling the repeated cases against Gorantla Madhav an attack on backward classes and democratic dissent.
