Public revolt erupts due to  TDP’s drug nexus exposed

Nellore, December 2: YSRCP District President and former minister Kakani Govardhan Reddy strongly refuted the ruling coalition’s false propaganda linking ganja trafficker Arava Kamakshi to the YSRCP, asserting that she is a known TDP affiliate protected by a TDP MLA — with multiple photographs proving their association. Yet, Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu himself is shamelessly repeating this lie only to malign the YSRCP, he said.

Kakani stated that the demolition of Kamakshi’s house by the public reflects the deep anger brewing across the state against the TDP-led coalition. Discovery of 25 kg of ganja inside the house of a murder accused exposes how drug networks are flourishing under government protection, he asserted. If this contraband truly belonged to YSRCP, would anyone have had the courage to store or sell it? The very fact that locals, enraged by the revelations, brought down the house themselves shows that people have lost faith in the government. “Today they demolished her house; tomorrow they will demolish your government, Chandrababu,” Kakani warned.

He condemned the government’s utter failure in controlling the rampant drugs mafia, recalling that Naidu had promised to eradicate ganja and drugs within 100 days of coming to power. Even after 550 days, the menace has only worsened, culminating in the brutal murder of social activist Penchalayya, who fought fearlessly against narcotics. The primary accused Kamakshi, shielded by TDP leaders, continued her illegal operations unchecked.

Kakani criticised TDP’s hypocrisy in first extending support to the Nellore bandh and then using the police to obstruct the rally by people’s organisations and political parties. The dual standards of TDP reflect its trademark “two-eye policy,” he said. Police, instead of pursuing drug traffickers, are being pressured to dilute cases against offenders while targeting the opposition. MLA offices are routinely intervening to protect criminals, creating a law-and-order collapse where even police feel compelled to fire in self-defence.

He reiterated that the YSRCP stands firmly with Penchalayya’s family and supported the bandh called in his memory, which succeeded because the public has clearly risen against the TDP coalition. Penchalayya worked for social good, and his murder is a grave injustice. The growing unrest proves that people are no longer willing to remain silent, Kakani concluded.
