*Chandrababu shielding accused*

Tadepalli, June 7: YSRCP State Spokesperson Karumuri Venkata Reddy alleged that Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu follows a political model of allowing wrongdoing, helping those involved escape scrutiny, and later bringing them back after managing the system. He said the handling of TDP leader Jayachandra Reddy in the fake liquor case was another example of this pattern.

Speaking to the media at the YSRCP central office in Tadepalli on Sunday, Karumuri alleged that Jayachandra Reddy, the TDP in-charge of Tamballapalle constituency and an accused in the Molakalacheruvu fake liquor case, was allowed to leave for Africa instead of being arrested. He claimed that after remaining abroad for eight months, Jayachandra Reddy recently returned to Bengaluru after securing bail. Karumuri alleged that although statements from key accused and witnesses pointed towards Jayachandra Reddy’s involvement, no action was taken against him and his status in the case was allegedly downgraded from A1 to A17.
He further alleged that a fake liquor manufacturing network operating from Molakalacheruvu generated illegal profits of around ₹5,250 crore within a year and supplied liquor across the state through belt shops. Karumuri questioned how such a large operation could function without political patronage. He also drew parallels with the Skill Development case, alleging that Chandrababu Naidu had earlier helped his former personal secretary Pendyala Srinivas leave for the United States when notices were issued against him.
Karumuri accused the government of targeting YSRCP leaders while protecting TDP leaders facing serious allegations. Referring to Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy’s Political Assistant K.N.R., he said KNR was cooperating with the investigation and had not attempted to evade questioning because he had done nothing wrong. He alleged that the ruling coalition was resorting to diversionary politics to shift public attention away from growing criticism of its two-year rule and the statewide protests launched by YSRCP under the “Two Years of Backstabbing” campaign.
