*MLA Galla Madhavi responsible for Guntur assault: Ambati*

Guntur, July 21: YSRCP Guntur District President and former Minister Ambati Rambabu held local MLA Galla Madhavi responsible for the brutal assault and public stripping of a woman in Guntur, stating that the second and more horrific attack occurred only because the victim’s initial complaint was deliberately blocked from being registered. Addressing the media during a massive YSRCP Women’s Wing protest at Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Statue in Guntur against the rising attacks, rapes, murders and atrocities on women under the coalition government, Ambati said the victim had approached the police after the first incident, but the case was not registered due to the MLA’s intervention. Instead, attempts were made at the police station level to broker a compromise to protect the TDP workers involved, emboldening them to launch a second attack in which the woman was stripped and humiliated in public.
Ambati said the government’s response came only after CCTV footage of the incident surfaced and went viral on social media. Had the videos not become public, neither the police nor the government would have acted, he said. Instead of targeting the perpetrators, the police were now questioning and harassing the woman who brought the videos into the public domain. He asserted that suspending a TDP leader and arresting a few accused could not absolve the government of responsibility when the incident itself was the result of political interference and police inaction.
Stating that he stood firmly by every allegation made against the MLA and was prepared to face any defamation suit, Ambati said Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu must act against Galla Madhavi if he was sincere about protecting women. He criticised the police for waiting for political instructions before registering complaints, warning that such interference ultimately turns police officers into scapegoats while political leaders escape accountability. Calling the police system and the Home Minister complete failures in ensuring women’s safety, he said YSRCP would continue its fight until the full truth behind the Guntur incident is exposed and justice is delivered to the victim.
