Chandrababu Naidu betrayed Rayalaseema

Tadepalli, May 30: Senior YSRCP leader and former minister Sake Sailajanath criticised Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu, for betraying the people of Rayalaseema and undermining the region’s development. Speaking to the media at the YSRCP central office in Tadepalli, Sailajanath asserted that Naidu’s governance has consistently marginalized Rayalaseema, despite his claims of being a “son of the soil.” Key institutions like AIIMS, the High Court, and the Andhra Pragathi Grameena Bank to Amaravati, actions he described as a “stab in the back” for Rayalaseema’s aspirations. “These are not the actions of a true son of Rayalaseema,” Sailajanath declared, emphasizing that Naidu’s policies have left the region “weeping with wounds” from neglect and broken promises.
Naidu failed to fulfill election promises, not a single welfare scheme announced in the past year has been implemented. “Naidu announces dates for welfare schemes like movie releases, but none see the light of day,” he said, noting that the recent Mahanadu event, meant to showcase the TDP’s achievements, instead served as a platform to deflect blame onto YSRCP leader YS Jagan Mohan Reddy. Naidu used Mahanadu to promote his son, Nara Lokesh, as the heir to NTR’s legacy, while exploiting AI technology to glorify himself. “Naidu, who insulted NTR during his lifetime, now uses his name for political gain without upholding his values,” Sailajanath charged.
The YSRCP leader pointed out specific betrayals, including the relocation of AIIMS from Anantapur to Mangalagiri, the High Court from Kurnool to Amaravati, and the rebranding of the Anantapur-based Andhra Pragathi Grameena Bank to Mangalagiri. Naidu also neglected critical irrigation projects, such as the Handri-Neeva and Rayalaseema Lift Irrigation Scheme, and failing to secure water allocations for the region. “Naidu protests against increasing the Pothireddypadu Head Regulator’s capacity while ignoring Rayalaseema’s water needs,” he said, adding that Naidu’s handling of the Polavaram project was driven by “commission-driven motives” rather than public interest.
Sailajanath challenged Naidu to prove his commitment to Rayalaseema by taking concrete steps: relocating the High Court back to Kurnool, restoring the Andhra Pragathi Grameena Bank to Kadapa, bringing AIIMS to Anantapur, completing the Chennai-Bengaluru Corridor, and allocating 100 TMC of water to Anantapur district. He also criticized Naidu’s unfulfilled promises from 2014-19, such as the Kadapa Steel Plant, Tirupati International Airport, and industrial projects like the Smart City and Food Park, which remain “mere graphics” rather than reality.
