Ramachandrapuram, May 31: YSRCP East Godavari District President and former Minister Chelluboina Srinivas Venugopalakrishna has lambasted Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu for orchestrating publicity stunts under the guise of pension distribution while failing to deliver on election promises.
Speaking to the media here on Saturday, the former minister criticised CM for staging carefully scripted visits to select families in Konaseema district, portraying a false sense of empathy while sidestepping accountability for unfulfilled commitments.
“The people could see through Chandrababu’s theatrical displays. His so-called concern for the poor is a sham, as he continues to dodge questions about implementing promised welfare schemes,” he asserted.
The former minister highlighted the CM’s monthly pension distribution events as a calculated drama, involving pre-selected families, pre-recorded interactions, and staged problem-solving moments. He pointed out that the doorstep pension delivery system, which Chandrababu claims credit for, was initiated by former CM YS Jagan Mohan Reddy. “It is shameful that Chandrababu portrays himself as the architect of this scheme while failing to address the real issues plaguing the state,” he said. He further criticized the CM for focusing solely on attacking YS Jagan instead of outlining concrete achievements or plans for Konaseema and Andhra Pradesh.
Chelluboina stated that the NDA government of achieving nothing in the past year except deceiving the public. He questioned why Chandrababu, during his Konaseema tour, failed to address what his administration has done for the state or the region. “The people expected a vision for progress, but all they got was baseless criticism of the YSRCP and hollow rhetoric,” he said. He also called out the CM’s Mahanadu event in Kadapa, where the focus remained on self-glorification and attacking the opposition rather than addressing governance failures.
The former minister raised serious concerns about the state’s welfare and development. He accused Chandrababu of scrapping critical initiatives like the doorstep ration delivery system, which employed thousands from marginalized communities, and dismissing volunteers who served during crises like the Budameru floods. “By canceling ration delivery vehicles and sidelining volunteers, Chandrababu has not only deprived people of essential services but also snatched livelihoods from the poor,” he stated. He further criticized the CM’s contradictory policies, such as promising doorstep ration delivery for the differently-abled and elderly while dismantling the infrastructure that enabled it.
Chelluboina also held Chandrababu responsible for the state’s losses post-bifurcation, alleging that his focus on Hyderabad’s development neglected other Andhra Pradesh cities. “The CM’s own words reveal he prioritized personal gains over the state’s interests during bifurcation, compromising projects like Polavaram for commissions,” he charged. Additionally, he accused the NDA government of fostering lawlessness, with liquor, sand, and land mafias thriving under its patronage, while public safety and governance have deteriorated.
Chelluboina urged the people to hold the government accountable and demand transparency on its Rs. 1.49 lakh crore expenditure over the past year. “Chandrababu’s administration thrives on political vendettas and empty promises.
The people deserve a government that delivers justice, welfare, and progress, not one that mocks their struggles,” he concluded, vowing to continue exposing the NDA’s failures and advocating for the marginalized.
