Mahanadu,  a farce

Visakhapatnam, May 31: YSRCP Legislative Council Opposition Leader Botsa Satyanarayana launched a scathing attack on the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) for its recently concluded Mahanadu in Kadapa, labeling it a “farce” aimed at deceiving the people of Andhra Pradesh.
Speaking to media at his camp office here, Botsa accused the TDP-led coalition government of failing to deliver on its promises and resorting to theatrics to mask its governance failures over the past year. “TDP’s Mahanadu was nothing but an attempt to cover up its incompetence with personal attacks and uncivil language,” he asserted, demanding that the ruling party clarify what tangible benefits it has delivered to the people through this event.
Botsa highlighted the coalition government’s mishandling of the education sector, particularly the evaluation of Class 10 answer scripts, as a grave injustice to students. “The government has turned the evaluation process into a mockery,” he said, citing shocking discrepancies where students who initially scored 20 marks were awarded 90 marks upon re-evaluation. “Have we ever witnessed such a travesty in the correction of answer scripts?
Over 16,000 students sought re-verification, and the majority revealed gross errors in evaluation. What actions have been taken against those responsible?” he questioned, slamming the government for its failure to conduct a review or hold anyone accountable. He further criticized the rushed evaluation process, noting that examiners were burdened with excessive answer scripts, leading to widespread errors that have caused distress among students and parents.
The YSRCP leader also accused the TDP of using Mahanadu as a platform for self-glorification and baseless criticism of the YSRCP, rather than outlining a clear roadmap for implementing promised schemes. “Why did the TDP fail to provide clarity on when and how they will deliver on schemes like Rythu Bharosa, Amma Vodi, Aadabidda Nidhi, and unemployment allowances? The people deserve specific timelines, not empty rhetoric,” Botsa demanded. He challenged the government to disclose details about land allocations for the Urs project and refute allegations of undervalued deals. “If they have the courage, let them prove our accusations wrong,” he said.
Botsa also took aim at the TDP’s decision to rename YSR Kadapa district, questioning whether the coalition would similarly rename NTR district as NTR Vijayawada district. “Is this how they honor the legacy of leaders who served the state? Such petty actions reflect Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu’s narrow-minded approach,” he remarked. He further criticized media outlets like Eenadu for publishing misleading reports that downplay the evaluation fiasco, asserting that such attempts to distort the truth will not go unnoticed.
Botsa announced that the YSRCP will organize statewide protests on June 4, 2025, under the banner of “Vennupotu Dinam” (Betrayal Day) across all constituencies. “We will mobilize the people, hold rallies, and submit memoranda to officials to expose the coalition government’s betrayal and demand accountability,” he declared
