Hyderabad, September 1: YSRCP State General Secretary Nandamuri Lakshmi Parvathi said Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu had made betrayal the defining feature of his political career, recalling that exactly 31 years ago he became Chief Minister after removing N.T. Rama Rao from power and taking control of the Telugu Desam Party.
Speaking to the media at her Hyderabad residence, Lakshmi Parvathi said NTR was a leader who empowered women, introduced reservations for them in employment and local bodies, abolished the Munasabu-Karanam system and played a key role in building the National Front. She said NTR had secured a historic mandate in 1994, only to be removed from power within eight months.
She said Chandrababu took control of the party leadership and finances and was sworn in as Chief Minister on September 1, 1995. “That is why Chandrababu remains the address for political betrayal,” she said.
Lakshmi Parvathi said Naidu’s politics had remained rooted in deception, promising welfare before elections and abandoning commitments after coming to power. She said he was now claiming credit for projects such as Bhogapuram Airport and Veligonda, despite major work being carried out by previous governments, and even sought to appropriate the image of a “visionary.”
She also questioned claims surrounding Nara Lokesh’s Stanford education and challenged him to publicly produce his academic certificate.
Lakshmi Parvathi said Chandrababu had historically used political influence, media support and institutions to isolate NTR and take control of the party symbol. She said he had no moral right to use NTR’s photographs after what happened in 1995.
She further stated that the same political methods once used against NTR were now being deployed against YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, including attempts to politically isolate him and create divisions within his family.
