TDP authoritarian rule in State

Nellore, May 31: The Andhra Pradesh government’s oppressive “Red Book” regime has reached its zenith, plunging the state into a state of anarchy through illegal arrests and politically motivated persecution, declared YSRCP State Coordinator Sajjala Ramakrishna Reddy. Speaking to the media after visiting former Minister Kakani Govardhan Reddy, who is under remand in Nellore Central Jail on baseless mining charges, Sajjala lambasted the coalition government for its vindictive tactics. He asserted that within just one year, the government’s misrule has driven the people of Andhra Pradesh to the brink, with public discontent mounting against its authoritarian practices.
Sajjala criticised that government is fabricating cases to silence YSRCP leaders who question its failures. “Kakani’s arrest is a direct result of his courage to challenge this regime,” he stated, emphasizing that no evidence supports the charges against YSRCP leaders. He revealed that minor, bailable offenses are being maliciously converted into non-bailable ones, including the misuse of SC/ST atrocity laws, to prolong harassment. “If we had resorted to such tactics during our tenure, Chandrababu Naidu would have been jailed within three months,” Sajjala remarked, warning that the consequences of these fabricated cases will be severe for the ruling coalition.
Sajjala highlighted the systematic destruction of state institutions, particularly the police, which he claimed have been reduced to tools of political vengeance. “The police are acting like goons, openly assaulting citizens, as seen in Tenali, where youths were brutally beaten with lathis,” he said, condemning such acts as barbaric and unacceptable. Sajjala also pointed to recent incidents, including public nude dances in Nellore district, as evidence of the collapse of governance and law enforcement under the coalition’s rule.
Sajjala further exposed the government’s attempts to suppress dissent by targeting even senior officials, including a DG-rank IPS officer, with flimsy charges based on coerced statements. He questioned the legitimacy of cases built on manipulated confessions, asking, “If someone implicates Chandrababu in a statement, will he be arrested too?” He accused the government of using media outlets like Eenadu and Andhra Jyothi to spread false narratives and justify illegal arrests, bypassing due process
Despite the repression, Sajjala affirmed that YSRCP’s resolve remains unshaken. “The more they try to crush us, the stronger we emerge,” he declared, noting that the coalition’s actions are inadvertently strengthening YSRCP’s base. He warned that the government’s reckless policies and failure to deliver have eroded public trust within a year, predicting that the coalition will pay a heavy price for its misdeeds. “The people are watching, and their voice will not be silenced,” he asserted.
Looking ahead, Sajjala called on the people of Andhra Pradesh to recognize the dangers of this authoritarian regime and unite against it. He urged the government to cease its vendetta politics and focus on governance, warning that continued atrocities will lead to irreparable consequences. “The coalition’s Red Book regime is a betrayal of democracy. We will fight these injustices and stand with the people to restore accountability and justice,” he concluded.
