MDU union appeals to YS Jagan to reinstate doorstep ration delivery

Tadepalli, May 30: The Andhra Pradesh Mobile Dispensing Units (MDU) Union has appealed to former Chief Minister and YSRCP President Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy to reinstate the doorstep ration delivery system after the YSRCP returns to power. The TDP-led coalition government's decision to scrap the service from June 1 has left over 18,000 MDU families jobless. The union submitted a petition highlighting their plight and seeking revival of the scheme.

The doorstep delivery system, introduced under Jagan’s leadership, had ensured ration access for the disabled, elderly, and remote tribal communities while providing livelihoods to 9,260 operators and support staff. “This service was a lifeline for us and those we served. Its cancellation has caused immense hardship,” the union stated, urging Reddy to bring it back once the party regains power.
