Mangalagiri/Tadepalli, August 6: A YSRCP delegation comprising former ministers Taneti Vanitha and Chelluboyina Venugopala Krishna, MLCs Lella Appireddy and Ruhulla, Legal Cell president Manohar Reddy and other leaders submitted a representation to DIG Fakkeerappa at the DGP’s office, seeking immediate action against attacks and police obstruction targeting the party’s peaceful protests across Andhra Pradesh.
The delegation said suppressing constitutional and democratic rights was contrary to the spirit of the Constitution. It placed before the police the details of attacks on relay hunger-strike camps in Vijayawada and several districts, removal of tents, obstruction of peaceful demonstrations and the role of ruling-party workers. The leaders sought criminal cases against those responsible, a departmental inquiry into the conduct of police officials and adequate protection for all peaceful protest programmes. They also urged the DGP to ensure impartial policing, free from political influence, and provide full security to former Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy.
YSRCP reiterated its demand for a CBI inquiry into the DSC–2025 irregularities and the resignation of Education Minister Nara Lokesh, accepting responsibility for the recruitment process. It also demanded immediate release of pending Fee Reimbursement dues and implementation of the promised ₹3,000 monthly unemployment allowance.
Meanwhile, the party central office announced that relay hunger strikes would continue in Assembly constituencies on August 7 and 8, following the protests held across all 175 constituencies on Thursday. On the directions of YSRCP President Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, large rallies will be organised at all Assembly constituency headquarters on August 10.
The party called upon leaders, cadres, students, unemployed youth and the public to participate in large numbers. It said the next phase of the agitation would be announced after the August 10 rallies to further intensify pressure on the government until justice is delivered.
