Tadepalli, May 31: The YSRCP Employees and Pensioners Wing, led by State President Nalamari Chandrasekhar Reddy, has strongly condemned the rampant corruption and political interference in the ongoing employee transfer process across Andhra Pradesh.
Speaking at a press conference at the YSRCP Central Office in Tadepalli, Reddy accused the coalition government of turning routine employee transfers into a lucrative auction, with coalition leaders and officials allegedly extorting lakhs of rupees from employees seeking transfers.
“The coalition government has transformed a transparent administrative process into a shameless bazaar of bribes, exploiting employees and undermining public trust,” Reddy asserted.
Reddy highlighted that the government issued GO MS No. 23 on May 15, mandating general transfers from May 16 to June 2 to ensure employee welfare and transparent governance. However, he alleged that coalition leaders, from MLAs to mandal-level functionaries, have flouted these guidelines, demanding hefty bribes to facilitate transfers. “From MLAs to local leaders, a vicious cycle of corruption has emerged, with rates fixed for each transfer—ranging from Rs. 2 lakhs upward—leaving employees harassed and demoralized,” he said. The Revenue Department, in particular, has become a hub for such illicit transactions, with officials allegedly requiring MLA recommendation letters to process transfers, a practice not stipulated in the GO. Reddy questioned, “If this is a legitimate policy, why was it not mentioned in the GO? This is nothing but a pretext for extortion.”
The YSRCP leader further accused coalition leaders of manipulating transfers to place loyalists in key positions, such as tahsildars, deputy tahsildars, and surveyors, to facilitate illegal land encroachments. “Employees are being coerced into enabling the coalition’s agenda of grabbing government land, with transfers being dictated by bribes rather than merit or rules,” Reddy charged. He also pointed to similar allegations in the Sericulture Department, where large-scale extortion is reportedly taking place. “This unchecked corruption not only stifles employees’ ability to work freely but also jeopardizes public services,” he warned.
In a disturbing trend, Reddy also highlighted increasing attacks on government employees by coalition supporters. He cited two recent incidents: in Anantapur district, a TDP leader, Rajesh Naidu, allegedly abused a secretariat employee, Ashwath Reddy, using derogatory language for failing to mobilize people for a political event. In Chandragiri constituency’s Ramireddypalle panchayat, another TDP leader reportedly harassed secretariat staff, verbally abused them, and locked the office to pressure them over personal demands. “TDP leaders are treating government employees like slaves, obstructing their duties and threatening their safety,” Reddy said, demanding immediate action against such individuals.
Reddy called on the government to enforce transparency in the transfer process, end the culture of extortion, and protect employees from harassment. “The coalition must honor its election promises to employees and ensure their dignity and security. We demand swift action to punish those involved in these corrupt practices and attacks,” he urged.
The YSRCP Employees and Pensioners Wing vowed to continue advocating for employees’ rights and transparent governance, ensuring that public servants can work without fear or coercion.
