The sequence of events took place ever since Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu floated the idea of construction of a state of the art capital city in Amaravati confirmed that he is moving 'aimless' in completing the task of creation of the capital.
It all began in 2015 when Chandrababu entrusted national Institution of Design in Nagarjuna University the responsibility of preparing the sketches and design for the buildings. Not happy with the design, he roped in an Japan Architect Company. Initially, he gave his nod to the plan prepared by Japan based Maki and Associates but it was not accepted.
In September 2017, London based Narma Poster was asked to finalise the architecture designs for the construction of Assembly, Secretariat and also residential complexes for the officials. He also sent Baahubali director SS Rajamouli to London to make some recommendations to the company ensuring the local culture reflected in the designs.
Even before the finalisation of the designs, Chandrababu announced to lay ground breaking function for Secretariat and Assembly in September 30 but it was postponed.
In October, the CM along with his close associates mainly the Ministers flown to London and finalised seven designs and posted them on CRDA website. Government also sought people's opinion on the designs. He promised the construction of Iconic buildings, Towers , needle tip shaped assembly buildings etc.
Chandrababu also announced that government will invite tenders in March this year and works will be started. Chandrababu revised the designs again and is getting ready to finalise the tenders by this month end. Eyeing the next elections, the government is planning to take up works soon but it is known fact that people will reject the TDP in 2019 elections.
