YSRCP dares Cong to face polls
01 Feb 2013 9:09 PM
getting majority in the heavily rigged cooperative elections, YSR Congress has
dared the ruling party to face the assembly elections as the government has
drifted into a minority with some of its legislators switching sides.
“PCC President claiming that they have won 60 per cent of the seats in
cooperative polls, which were nothing short of a farce, does not reflect the
popularity of the party and if he is that serious about it the issue should be
settled in a people’s court,” party spokesperson Ambati Rambabu told reporters here on Friday.
The elections were heavily rigged from the enrollment state itself, and
elections were stayed where Congress is weak and the PCC President himself has
been saying that they would be taking action against nine members for
anti-party activities.
On a single day nearly 10 lakh voters were enrolled which shows the
magnitude of rigging Congress has involved in the elections, he said.
Farmers are not with Congress as the party has heavily burdened them. It
is always the ruling party that gets majority in the cooperative polls, he
said.
These results will only be useful for the PCC president to impress upon
the High Command to show that the party is gaining some muscle, he said.
“If that is the case, as the government is on the edge of a minority,
the assembly should be dissolved and fresh elections should be held,” he said.
The main opposition TDP should make best use of the situation to force
an election by moving no confidence motion in the assembly and the strengths of
each party will be decided in the people’s court, he said.
The State opted to go only for cooperative polls as they would fall
under the purview of the Election Commission if they are held after March. It
becomes very difficult for the government to rig the voters’ list and election
as well.
It the party is so sincere about the decentralisation of power, why did
it not opt for local bodies elections, municipal and Zilla Parishad elections,
he asked.
Dismissing the rumours that YSRCP has a tie up with Congress, he said,
in that case why our leader should be in jail this long. “This is just
negative propaganda of vested interests,” he said.
On the recent arrests, he said, we are not supporting the persons or the
charges but one thing is apparent. “Owaisi brothers were arrested only after
withdrawing supporting Congress and P Shankar Rao is arrested only after he
fell out with Chief Minister,” he said.
