Hours ahead of party’s
political affairs committee decision on the shape its forthcoming mass contact
programme, YSR Congress party honourary president Smt. Y.S. Vijayamma visited
the Chanchalguda jail here on Thursday and discussed the issue with her son and
party chief Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy.
Wednesday’s extended
meeting of the party’s Central Governing Council, Executive Committee and MLAs at
its central office received several suggestions from party leaders on taking up
a Padayatra to highlight the people’s problems and find solutions to them.
While some leaders
suggested Jagan’s Odarpu Yatra should be continued, some other suggested a sort
of Ratha Yatra by party leaders.
Senior leaders of the
party also suggested that Vijayamma should not take up this Yatra in view of
her health and age but were forthright in suggesting that Jagan’s family
members only should take up the mass contact programme.
The political affairs
Committee will take a decision and finalize the mass contact programme schedule
taking into consideration the views of Jagan.
