*Differently-abled scholars meet YS Jagan*

Tadepalli, May 19: Representatives of differently-abled scholars met former Chief Minister and YSRCP President YS Jagan Mohan Reddy at the YSRCP central office in Tadepalli and urged intervention over the lack of reservations for persons with disabilities in recent university faculty recruitment notifications issued by the Andhra Pradesh government.

All University Divyang Wings President Dr. M. Koteswara Rao and Executive Member M. Srinivasa Rao explained that despite the government issuing notifications to fill 1,523 posts of Assistant Professors, Associate Professors, and Lecturers across 19 universities in Andhra Pradesh, no reservations were provided for differently-abled candidates. They expressed concern that highly qualified disabled scholars, including PhD holders, are being denied employment opportunities due to the failure to implement reservations.
The representatives stated that the Chandrababu Naidu government is not properly implementing the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016, enacted by the Government of India to ensure equality, empowerment, and protection of rights for differently-abled persons. They said the lack of implementation is depriving disabled individuals of jobs and livelihood opportunities and added that even in contract and outsourcing appointments, adequate opportunities are not being provided.

YS Jagan patiently listened to their concerns and assured them that efforts would be made to secure justice for differently-abled candidates. Recalling the measures taken for the welfare and empowerment of persons with disabilities during the YSRCP government, he assured the delegation that the YSR Congress Party would continue to stand by the differently-abled community in the future as well.
