Tadepalli, May 20: Former Chief Minister and YSRCP President YS Jagan Mohan Reddy paid rich tributes to freedom fighter and first Chief Minister of Andhra State, Andhra Kesari Tanguturi Prakasam Pantulu, on his death anniversary at the YSRCP central office. Describing Prakasam Pantulu as a symbol of courage, integrity and selfless public service, YS Jagan recalled how he fearlessly stood against British oppression and dedicated his life to the rights and welfare of the people.
On the occasion, representatives of the Andhra Pradesh Brahmin Association submitted a memorandum seeking the establishment of a memorial park for Prakasam Pantulu in the Andhra Pradesh capital and installation of his statue in the Assembly premises. Led by former MLA Malladi Vishnu, the delegation said Prakasam Pantulu was one of the foremost freedom fighters from South India and that future generations should learn about his sacrifices and contributions.
Responding positively, Y.S. Jagan assured that the proposal would be considered and promised that the memorial and statue would be established after returning to power. The delegation thanked him for the assurance.
Former MLA Malladi Vishnuvardhan and Andhra Pradesh Brahmin Association representatives Jwalapuram Srikanth, Dronamraju Srivatsava, Rampalli Ravichandra, Purushottam Sharma, E. Krishnamachari, CH Srinivasa Rao and K. Venkata Subba Rao participated in the programme.
