Hyderabad, June 21,
2013: YSR Congress honourary president Smt. Y.S. Vijayamma has sought immediate
steps from the Government to come to the rescue of lakhs of Telugu people who
have lost their jobs due to the newly enforced labour law Nitaqat in Saudi Arabia and Kuwait.
In a letter addressed
to CM Kiran Kumar Reddy on Friday, she said that already 6 lakh Telugus and 1.5
lakh Telugus have lost their jobs in Saudi Arabia and Kuwait respectively.
“It is our
responsibility to come to their rescue immediately,” she told the CM in her
letter.
Recalling her May 17th
letter to the PM Dr. Manmohan Singh on the issue, she said both state and central
Governments should initiate measures on a priority basis to help the Telugu people who
were put to great difficulty due to the newly enforced labour law in the Gulf.
The Government should take
steps to launch a revolving fund to help them financially, bring them back
safely and provide them with alternative employment opportunities.
