Murder attempt and arrest of Ambati Rambabu spark statewide outrage

Nellore / Srikakulam / Nandyal/ Gopalapuram: Feb 1:  YSRCP leaders across the State strongly condemned the attack and murder attempt on former minister Ambati Rambabu, calling it a serious assault on democratic opposition and a sign of deteriorating law and order.
Former minister and district president Kakani Govardhan Reddy described the attack on Rambabu’s residence and attempt to physically target him as disgraceful. The ruling leadership encouraged cases and attacks against those who question the government, and said the violence points to a breakdown of constitutional governance. Frustration over the ghee and laddu controversy, where investigative reports found no animal fat, has led to diversionary politics and targeted attacks on vocal opposition leaders. Police acting as spectators, even a former minister lacks protection, the situation of ordinary citizens can be imagined.
Former minister Seediri Appalaraju said the incident involving a leader with decades of public life reflects governance failure. Despite CBI-SIT reports, misinformation continues through flex banners, fuelling tensions.  Rambabu’s comments were made in the heat of the moment and not directed at the Chief Minister, yet were followed by retaliation and property damage. Government ignoring the spirit of Supreme Court directions and failing to prevent predictable clashes.
Baireddy Siddharth Reddy called the attack heinous and termed it diversion politics, questioning police inaction. SIT found no animal fat in the Tirumala laddu, the government shifting positions and escalating confrontation. He also criticised Pawan Kalyan’s silence and false claims hurt Hindu sentiments.
MLA Virupakshi, protesting Rambabu’s arrest, demanded his unconditional release. Former Home Minister Taneti Vanitha and other leaders expressed concern over public safety, while former MLA Kasu Mahesh Reddy warned that Rambabu could face danger even in custody
