YSR family deeply attached to Ichchapuram

Smt. Sharmila addressing the people from Vijayavatika at Ichchapuram in Srikakulam district marking the winding up of her Maro Praja Prasthanam Padayatra on Sunday
Srikakulam, Aug 5,
2013: As Y. S. Sharmila ended her 3112-km and 230-day long Maro Praja
Prasthanam Padayatra at Ichchapuram on Sunday, people of Srikakulam district had
recalled the YSR family’s decade-long association with the town.
As a matter of sheer coincidence,
it was at Ichchapuram from where YSR Congress Party chief Sri Y.S.Jagan Mohan
Reddy began his second round of Odarpu Yatra. It was also at Ichchapuram Dr.
YSR ended his historic Praja Prasthanam Padayatra in 2003.
The local residents of
Ichchapuram, however, feel that YSR family’s association with the town is not an
ordinary one. “The relationship of the YSR family with the town is certainly
something special,” said some of the locals, adding that the association, for
which YSR had sown the seeds in 2003 through his Praja Prasthanam, has now grown
into a full-fledged tree with Sri Jagan Mohan Reddy watering them through his
Odarpu Yatra and Smt. Sharmila nursing them with her Maro Praja Prasthanam
Padayatra.
“If the relationship is
not special, why would YSR end his historic Padayatra here in 2003? Why would
Sri Jagan Mohan Reddy launch his second round of Odarpu Yatra from here? And
why did Smt. Sharmila also wind up her Maro Praja Prasthanam Padayatra at
Ichchapuram only? It all indicates the YSR family has an undefinable
relationship with the town and its people,” said some of the locals.
