*Anita must resign as Home Minister: Nagamalleswari*

Tadepalli, July 2: YSRCP State Spokesperson Nagamalleswari demanded the immediate resignation of Home Minister Vangalapudi Anitha, holding her directly responsible for the deteriorating law and order situation and the increasing atrocities against women and Dalits under the coalition government. Addressing the media at the YSRCP Central Office in Tadepalli, she said the Home Minister has failed in her constitutional responsibility to protect citizens, while remaining silent even as, according to YSRCP, 20 Dalits have lost their lives during the coalition government’s tenure.

Nagamalleswari questioned why Anitha, despite being based in Vijayawada, had not visited the family of Perupogu Kranthi Kumar, the Dalit youth who died by suicide after naming Krishna Lanka CI Nagaraju in a selfie video. She said the Home Minister readily attends film functions and cricket events but has found no time to visit grieving families or assure them of justice. She also questioned what happened to the government’s claim of installing 70,000 CCTV cameras, asking why no CCTV footage was available in the Gade Sai Krishna custodial death case despite the victim being transported from Markapur to Vijayawada by the police.

She said attacks on women, political violence and assaults on YSRCP leaders continue without any meaningful response from the Home Department, causing the police system to lose public confidence. Nagamalleswari also criticized the functioning of the Women’s Commission, stating that women seeking justice were prevented from entering its premises under heavy police deployment while those responsible for abuses remained protected.

Stating that public office demands accountability rather than political rhetoric, Nagamalleswari said the Home Minister has failed to safeguard women, Dalits and ordinary citizens. Holding her responsible for the collapse of law and order, repeated attacks on women and growing public insecurity, she demanded that Anitha immediately resign as Home Minister.
