The budget session concluded on Thursday with not a single people’s issue being discussed as the main opposition TDP was reeling in utter confusion and changing its stand too often to help the Congress go scot free on major burning issues, said YSR Congress Party.
“The session passed off with no discussion on farmers’ issues, power tariff hike, drinking water, MSP, fees reimbursement and other issues while the TDP failed to perform its role as an opposition party and was in utter confusion, planned or otherwise, as it flitted from one issue to the other without drawing any conclusion,” the Party Central Executive Committee (CEC) member and former MLA, Ms Sobha Nagi Reddy said here.
The opposition made a big issue out of the liquor scam and stalled the proceedings for a few days and suddenly withdrew its attack for whatever reason, then it raised the tainted Ministers issue and suddenly receded which clearly shows that it has allowed Congress escape from any embarrassment, she said adding that the same point was raised by MIM floor leader Akbaruddin Owaisi.
Ruling and Main Opposition parties took lion’s share of the budget session time and used the Assembly as a political platform instead of discussing people’s issues and smaller parties were not given sufficient time to express opinions, she said adding that the question hour, 302 and short discussions did not go on the intended lines.
Immediately after the Assembly session, the power tariff was increased to net Rs 4,000 crores though the power scarcity was not discussed in the House, she said.
The Assembly session has shown that Congress Party lacks a strong leader and TDP could wag its tail and let the ruling party go off the hook for whatever consideration.
The 26 GOs issue flared up for some days and quickly took a back seat, she said.
“A section of media has coined a derogatory phrase of Jagan illegal assets case which in fact is the case pertaining to 26 GOs case in which YS Jagan Mohan Reddy is accused no 52. For whatever reason, the issue has been repeatedly taken a wrong nomenclature and it is time the correction is made and the issue is referred to as 26 GOs case,” she vehemently said.
Congress former minister P Shankar Rao congratulates TDP during the party’s 30years celebrations and it is this combination that filed the case against the 26 GOs, she said adding that in the coming by-elections, the two parties seem to have some secret pact.
“Such nefarious pacts do not work out as was seen in the Kovur by-elections. We supported the no confidence motion on farmers’ issue and are fans of YSR policies and his dedication to farmers’ cause. Chandrababu Naidu on the other hand has been anti-farmer and it is proved on many occasions,” she said.
