Tadepalli, April 23: YSRCP has criticized the filing of an SC/ST Atrocity case against party spokesperson Karumuri Venkata Reddy, calling it misuse of law and politically motivated. Party SC Cell State Working President Kommuri Kanaka Rao said personal remarks should not be linked to any caste and termed the complaint as unjust.
Speaking to the media at the party central office, he said that Social Welfare Board Chairman Balakotayya had made objectionable remarks against Y. S. Jagan Mohan Reddy over the Mavigun proposal, and Karumuri Venkata Reddy had only responded to those comments. He questioned how a personal remark could be treated as an insult to an entire community.
He pointed out that similar language had been used earlier against YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, but no such allegations were raised then. He alleged that the coalition leaders are now resorting to diversion politics as they are unable to respond to the Mavigun proposal, which has received public support.
He also accused the government led by N. Chandrababu Naidu of focusing on political targeting instead of addressing real issues like land problems and welfare of weaker sections.
He demanded immediate withdrawal of the case against Karumuri Venkata Reddy and challenged coalition leaders to come for an open debate on the capital proposal.
