Tadepalli, April 24: YSRCP State Co-ordinator Sajjala Ramakrishna Reddy stated that farmers in Andhra Pradesh were facing a severe crisis due to lack of remunerative prices and inadequate support from the government, and the YSRCP farmers’ wing would be strengthened and made more active to address their issues.
A meeting of the farmers’ wing working presidents, state vice presidents, general secretaries, and district presidents was held at the party central office in Tadepalli under the chairmanship of Jinnuri Ramarao, with senior leaders in attendance.
Addressing the meeting, Sajjala Ramakrishna Reddy said the farmers’ wing must act as a guiding force for farmers and focus on resolving issues at the grassroots level. He stated that meetings should be held regularly from village to district level and suggested forming task forces wherever necessary.
He said farmers were not getting fair prices for crops such as maize and alleged that the present government had failed to protect their interests. He added that the previous government led by Y. S. Jagan Mohan Reddy had stood firmly with farmers even during the Covid period.
Lella Appireddy said irrigation projects initiated during the tenure of Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy were still incomplete and needed priority attention.
Jinnuri Ramarao said farmers were facing serious distress due to lack of minimum support prices and alleged irregularities in procurement, adding that the party would continue to fight for farmers’ rights.
