Tadepalli, August 9: On International Tribal Day, former Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, taking to the X platform, extended heartfelt greetings to tribal communities, emphasizing their pure-hearted existence in nature’s embrace and their role as custodians of India’s ancient history and culture.
A grand celebration at YSRCP’s Tadepalli office, YSRCP leaders honored tribal icons like Dr. B. R. Ambedkar, Dr. YSR, Gam Mallu Dora, Birsa Munda, and Jaipal Singh Munda with floral tributes. The event, led by State ST Cell President and former MLA K. Bhagyalakshmi, saw participation from MLC Dr. Kumba Ravibabu, MLA Regam Matsyalingam, and others.
Speaking at the event, leaders emphasized that YS Jagan’s tenure as Chief Minister marked unprecedented tribal welfare initiatives. He distributed 3,22,670 acres of land under the Forest Rights Act, established a Tribal Advisory Committee, and pushed for constitutional amendments to secure tribal job rights. In contrast, the current coalition government, led by Chandrababu Naidu, has failed to distribute even a single acre of land, reflecting utter neglect. YSRCP leaders condemned this apathy, highlighting unfulfilled promises like coffee cultivation on one lakh acres.
Dr. Kumba Ravibabu lauded YS Jagan’s legacy, noting that Dr. YSR initiated Tribal Day celebrations in 2005, distributing four lakh acres. MLA Matsyalingam demanded the restoration of GO No. 3 for tribal job reservations and constitutional amendments. Bhagyalakshmi highlighted educational reforms, including a Rs. 500 crore medical college in Paderu and a tribal university in Salur. YS Jagan’s policies empowered 32 lakh tribals with land titles, education, and healthcare, ensuring their cultural preservation and socio-economic upliftment.
