'Durga Rao was killed by Chandrababu government'

Kurnool: YSR Congress Party Kurnool Parliamentary constituency president BY Ramaiah said the state police behaved as if they were TDP workers and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu's supporters and tried to foil the bandh call given by their party yesterday. In protest against Chandrababu's cheating and TDP government indifferent attitude as well as demanding Special Category Status (SCS) to AP, YSRCP had called for bandh.

The YSRCP leader thanked all the people who participated in the bandh and made it a success. Ramaiah along with MLA Ijayya, Katasani Rambhupal Reddy and Hafeez Khan participated in a press conference here today. Ramaiah said despite all efforts to suppress the bandh, it was successful because people voluntarily supported it. He expressed his condolences over YSRCP worker Durga Rao's death. Durga Rao died of a heart attack participating in the bandh protest. "Durga Rao’s death is not a natural death—he was killed by Chandrababu government." He said TDP was trying to portray people who participated in bandh as anti-national.

Ramaiah said it was unfortunate on part of deputy CM KE Krishna Murthy to say that bandh was foiled not by government but by the people. "It was irresponsible of deputy CM to question whether a one day bandh would get SCS to AP." He said it was Chandrababu who took a U-turn with respect to SCS. He asked the turncoat leaders to mind their language while speaking in public. Akhila Priya should understand that the ministership that she got after shifting party was not permanent, he said.

Double standards of TDP were clear to people, he said and added that YSRCP would continue its fight for SCS to AP.
