YSRCP condemns political bias, police misconduct

Tadepalli, July 14: YSRCP Legal Cell President Manohar Reddy raised serious concerns about the state of law enforcement in AP as the coalition government has been enforcing a "Red Book" Constitution for the past 13 months. This regime led to a biased and oppressive policing system that disproportionately targets opposition leaders while shielding perpetrators aligned with the ruling coalition. "The police, meant to uphold justice, are acting as subservient tools of the government, applying one law for the ruling coalition and another for the opposition," Manohar stated.
He highlighted the case of Uppala Harika, ZP Chairperson, and YSRCP Pedana in-charge Uppala Ramu, who were attacked by TDP-Janasena care in the presence of police. Despite clear evidence of the assault, no names of the perpetrators were included in the case filed, which took two days to register. "The public witnessed the brutality, yet the police's inaction speaks volumes about their complicity," Manohar asserted. Similarly, in Ponnuru Mandal, Sarpanch Naga Malleswara Rao was stabbed 18 times, reportedly in retaliation for raising concerns about illegal mining by Bandlamudi Chimpiraiah, who secured a stay order from the High Court. The police adopted a dual approach, failing to arrest the culprits while filing cases against the victims themselves. The police, under political pressure, are filing non-bailable SC/ST atrocity cases against scheduled caste victims, violating Supreme Court guidelines.
Manohar condemned the police for operating under the influence of political leaders, stating, "With the blessings of government higher-ups, the police believe they can act with impunity."
This systemic bias is eroding the foundations of policing, investigation, and the judicial system. "If this continues, the future of justice in AP is at grave risk," Manohar Reddy cautioned, emphasizing that the police, meant to protect victims, are instead enabling political vendettas. YSRCP demands immediate action to ensure impartial policing and the arrest of those responsible for these attacks, urging a return to a fair and equitable justice system for all citizens.
