YS Jagan Reviews Impact, Urges Leaders to Stand By Victims

 

Amaravati: Leader of the Opposition in Andhra Pradesh legislative assembly and YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) President, YS Jagan Mohan Reddy enquired about the impact of Cyclone Fani in the Northern Andhra region. In a telephonic call on Friday, he spoke to Srikakulam YSRCP District leaders Dharmana Prasada Rao, Dharmana Krishna Das, Tammineni Sitaram,Killi Kruprani and other leaders and reviewed the situation.

YS Jagan also directed the YSRCP leaders to extend support to the people in the four districts of East Godavari, Visakhapatnam, Srikakulam and Vizainagaram which have been affected by the cyclone. YS Jagan also emphasised the need to help the cyclone victims in every possible way in this hour of need.

Cyclone Fani moved close to north coastal Andhra before it made a landfall in neighbouring Odisha.heavy rains and gusty winds have lashed the coastal area of Srikakulam district. Srikakulam District Collector J Nivas said three houses were damaged due to the winds, but there was no loss of life.

About 20,000 people were shifted to 126 relief camps in Srikakulam district, where seven 'mandals' (blocks) were affected by the cyclone. A red alert was sounded in the district with authorities taking preventive measures to avoid loss of life and minimise property damages.

The Election Commission of India has lifted the poll code in Vishakapatnam, East Godavari, Vizianagaram and Srikakulam districts in wake of Cyclone Fani. The relaxation of the Election Code was taken to facilitate the rescue and rehabilitation of people in affected areas.
