Tirupati, July 17: YSRCP has alleged that there are large-scale irregularities in the recruitment process in Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) and that the entire process is tailor-made to suit their favoured ones, giving rise to large-scale corruption.
Speaking to the media here on Friday, former TTD Chairman Bhumana Karunakar Reddy said TTD has set aside efficient and qualified people like the Vice Chancellor and Director of SVIMS, and people with technical knowledge and Vedic stalwarts, and has formed a committee to look after the process, which is against the norms.
The corruption began right from the notification stage itself, with the qualifications and experience being altered to suit their candidates. Even medics and para-medics are now being selected by the committee members, which is headed by a close relative of Chandrababu Naidu and is known for his corrupt practices.
The SVIMS Director is nowhere in the picture in the selection process of medics and para-medics, and the recent irregularities in the appointment of doctors are still fresh in the minds of the people.
For the posts of engineers and electricians, no technical person is involved, but only the committee, which is against the norms.
Even for the posts of Vedic pundits for rendering Vedic hymns in the Nitya Parayana, there are irregularities, and the committee has no Vedic scholar or scholars proficient in all the four Vedas.
Already, there were exams held for the Vedic pundit posts and recruitment was not done, but the Board has now announced fresh recruitment. There are allegations of money changing hands even for these posts, he said.
The irregularities are being carried out in the pattern of DSC recruitment, and the committee was given all the powers. It has been conducting the recruitment process at its will, whims and fancies, setting aside competent people.
As there is no transparency in the recruitment process, we, as the opposition, have the right to question it.
