*Stripping and assaulting a woman in public is a national shame: Varudu Kalyani*

Visakhapatnam, July 18: Describing the public stripping and assault of a woman in Guntur as a shameful and inhuman act that has disgraced society, YSRCP Women's Wing State President and MLC Varudu Kalyani demanded the immediate resignation of Home Minister Vangalapudi Anitha and a public apology from Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu to the women of Andhra Pradesh. Addressing the media at the YSRCP City Office in Visakhapatnam, she said the Guntur incident reflects the complete collapse of law and order and women's safety under the coalition government.
Varudu Kalyani said a woman was stripped, kicked and brutally assaulted on a public road for nearly ten minutes by TDP Ward Secretary Mallela Murthy and his family over a dispute involving a Rs.10,000 bribe connected to a borewell motor. Even after the victim approached the police on July 16, her complaint was ignored. She said action was taken only after Sakshi Media exposed the incident and the videos went viral, forcing the Chief Minister to react on social media. She stated that local MLA Galla Madhavi and her associates spent three days attempting to broker a settlement instead of ensuring justice, and demanded that her call records be made public and action initiated against everyone involved in suppressing the case.
Stating that the Guntur incident came soon after the assault on a tribal woman in Kavali, Varudu Kalyani said repeated attacks on women under the coalition government have created fear across the State. She said the failure to act against coalition leaders involved in crimes against women has emboldened party workers to commit similar atrocities. Calling the TDP the "Telugu Dushasana Party," she said tweets and party suspensions cannot substitute justice. She demanded strict punishment for the accused and the police officers who failed to act, decisive action in all pending crimes against women, and warned that the people of Andhra Pradesh will hold the coalition government accountable for its failure to protect the dignity and safety of women.
