Tadepalli, August 4: YSRCP former MP Gorantla Madhav and spokesperson Konda Rajiv Gandhi and said the Chandrababu-led coalition government was using police power, false Eenadu reports and the “Red Book rule” to target BC leaders and suppress the Opposition. Addressing the media separately in the Party Central office, they said police had abandoned the law, constitutional safeguards and court directions, and were registering cases against YSRCP leaders on the basis of politically motivated media stories.
They said former Minister Seediri Appalaraju, Alur MLA Busine Virupakshi, Chintada Ravikumar, Visweswar Reddy and former MLA Mustafa were targeted through fabricated cases. Rajiv Gandhi said the viral Chippagiri video showed TDP leader Nagaraju tearing his wife’s clothes in the presence of police, yet a case was filed against MLA Virupakshi. He questioned why police seized CCTV hard disks from the MLA’s residence during the midnight raid.
Madhav condemned the lathi-charge on YSRCP leaders who peacefully went to submit a representation over the Uravakonda land dispute involving Minister Payyavula Keshav’s family. He demanded an impartial inquiry, stating that court orders and revenue records supported the affected farmer. He said the government was filing cases against Opposition leaders for questioning injustice while shielding ruling-party leaders.
Rajiv Gandhi said even people who attended Y.S. Jagan’s programmes were being booked because the government feared his growing public support. He also said the Bhogapuram International Airport and major Uttarandhra projects were initiated and advanced under Jagan, while Chandrababu was attempting to claim credit through publicity.
The leaders demanded immediate withdrawal of false cases against BC leaders, an end to political harassment and equal application of the law. They warned that attempts to silence the Opposition would fail and said the people would deliver their verdict against the coalition government.
