Anantapur, June 23: YSRCP Anantapur District President Ananta Venkatarami Reddy strongly condemned the murder attempt on party leader Gangulakunta Keshava Reddy in Tadipatri, stating that the incident reflects the growing lawlessness and political violence prevailing under the TDP-led coalition government.
In a press statement, Venkatarami Reddy said Keshava Reddy was brutally attacked by followers of JC Prabhakar Reddy while he was having tea near the local police station in Tadipatri. He said the assault took place in broad daylight and left Keshava Reddy seriously injured. He was immediately shifted to a nearby hospital for treatment. Shockingly, the attackers continued their aggression even at the hospital, attempting to target him again and pelting stones at the hospital premises in the presence of police personnel.
He said the incident is another example of the “Red Book” style of governance under which opposition leaders are being systematically targeted, intimidated and attacked. According to him, law and order has completely deteriorated in the state, and opposition leaders are being denied even basic protection. He criticized the police for acting as silent spectators while attacks on opposition leaders continue unabated.
Venkatarami Reddy stated that Tadipatri has witnessed a disturbing rise in violence, with attacks, murder attempts and destruction of property belonging to opposition leaders becoming a routine affair. He said democratic values are being crushed and every voice questioning the government is being targeted.
Demanding immediate action, he called for the arrest of all those involved in the attack on Keshava Reddy and urged the government to change its approach before such incidents create a dangerous precedent for the state. He also appealed to the police to discharge their duties impartially and prevent further acts of political violence.
