Press Release
Hyderabad, December 17: Sharmila, who suffered a knee injury, will undergo surgery at the Apollo hospital on Tuesday.
“The surgery for knee ligament tear will be performed tomorrow morning and doctors advised her three weeks rest,” Party Deputy floor leader Sobha Nagi Reddy told reporters after visiting Sharmila at the Hospital here on Monday.
The padayatra will resume after three weeks from the same spot where it stopped, she said.
Sharmila has injured her knee after the public meeting at LB Nagar in Ranga Reddy district on December 14 as she missed some steps and skidded from the bus while getting down.
Braving the ligament tear, she continued the padayatra for 6 to 7 km and the injury has aggravated.
The doctors after MRI scan diagnosed it as ACL (Anterior cruciate ligament) injury and said that it needs a laparoscopic (key hole) surgery.
Sharmila wanted to meet her brother YS Jagan Mohan Reddy in the morning before the surgery, she said.
After deliberations with Party leaders, and sending messages to YS Jagan Mohan Reddy through a lawyer and to YS Vijayamma, it was decided to give a break to Maro Praja Prasthanam, she said.
The padayatra will resume after three weeks from the same place where it was temporarily stopped, she said.
