Tadepalli, Sept 16: YSRCP spokesperson Vangaveeti Narendra accused the TDP-led coalition government of misleading poor families with its announcement that five lakh houses would be completed within six months.
Addressing the media at the YSRCP central office, he said Chandrababu Naidu had failed to provide even a cent of land to the poor despite serving as Chief Minister for several years. He described the latest housing promise as hollow propaganda without a clear action plan.
Narendra alleged that between 2014 and 2019, Chandrababu promised five lakh TIDCO houses but initiated only 3.15 lakh units. He also alleged corruption worth Rs 8,929 crore in the name of constructing nearly two lakh houses. Beneficiaries were forced to pay lakhs of rupees and bear bank loans for 20 years. In contrast, the YS Jagan government registered nearly 1.43 lakh TIDCO houses of 300 square feet for just one rupee each. It collected only Rs 25,000 for 365-square-foot houses and Rs 50,000 for 435-square-foot houses.
Narendra said the Jagan government developed nearly 17,500 layouts across the state. It also distributed 50,793 house-site pattas over 1,400 acres in Amaravati’s R5 Zone. He demanded that the government restore the cancelled pattas and disclose a detailed plan for completing five lakh houses.
