YSRCP opposes TDP Liquor policy

Terming the new excise policy of Andhra Pradesh Government as faulty and one that has a singular motive of filling its coffers leaving people in the lurch, YSR Congress has expressed its dissent over it.
It said the socio-economic issues were not taking into consideration while framing the liquor policy..
“The sole aim of the TDP government is to increase its excise revenue by any means and it is least bothered about socio-economic issues. Its decision to open liquor shops on highways is highly objectionable, party spokesperson Vasireddy Padma told reporters here on Tuesday.
The new liquor policy for the year has opened up more avenues for liquor outlets and blatantly encourages sale of liquor and targets are being fixed to mop up more revenue without giving a thought to the social impact and highway accidents, she said.
Though TDP has promised to close down the belt shops after coming to power, it has, on the contrary, given permission to open additional liquor outlets.“We strongly oppose the liquor policy of TDP which aims at only increasing the excise revenue,” she said.
Though TDP has been facing serious charges in the cash for vote scam in Telangana, it has resorted to the same tricks in Andhra Pradesh as well by fielding candidates where it does not have strength in the districts of Prakasam and Kurnool and is resorting to horse trading, she said.
