*Dalits denied Right to Live under Coalition rule: YSRCP*

Tadepalli, July 6: YSRCP leaders strongly condemned the coalition government for destroying the safety and dignity of Dalits in Andhra Pradesh, stating that Dalits have lost even the basic freedom to live under the present regime. They said the government and police machinery are jointly harassing Dalits, while more than 16 Dalits have been killed in the last two years of coalition rule.

YSRCP observed the death anniversary of Babu Jagjivan Ram at the party central office in Tadepalli. Party leaders lit the ceremonial lamp, garlanded his portrait and paid floral tributes to the former Deputy Prime Minister, remembering him as a towering Dalit leader and a champion of the oppressed. They recalled his crucial role in the success of the Green Revolution as Agriculture Minister and his lifelong struggle for a casteless, humane and equal society.

The leaders said YS Jagan Mohan Reddy worked during his five-year tenure to carry forward Jagjivan Ram’s ideals by empowering weaker sections socially, economically and politically. In sharp contrast, the coalition government has unleashed violence, violated laws and weakened every democratic protection, they said.

They charged that the government is suppressing questioning voices, foisting illegal cases and acting with arrogance instead of governance. The deaths of Perupogu Kranthi Kumar, who died by suicide due to police harassment, and Mala Gangamma, who died after police assault in Kurnool, stand as proof of the atrocities being committed against Dalits, they said. Party leaders observed silence in memory of Kranthi Kumar.

They said law and order has completely collapsed and Andhra Pradesh can recover only under YS Jagan’s leadership. The YSRCP made it clear that no cases or obstacles will stop its fight for victims and oppressed communities. Former Deputy CM Budi Mutyala Naidu, former ministers Kodali Nani, Anil Kumar Yadav, Jogi Ramesh, Sankara Narayana and several senior leaders attended.
