Naidu responsible for Krishna delta's woes

Guntur, March 1, 2013: Squarely
blaming TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu for the construction of dams over Krishna and
other rivers by upstream states Karnataka and Maharashtra, Smt. Y.S. Sharmila
said Naidu was responsible for the Nagarjuna Sagar Ayacut going dry.

Addressing a huge
public meeting at Piduguralla in Guntur district during the course of her Maro
Praja Prasthanam Padayatra on Thursday, she said Dr.YSR warned Naidu not to
allow construction of these dams as most of the Ayacut area would go dry but
Naidu didn’t heed the warning.

“YSR told Naidu he
would go down in the history of AP as the betrayer of farmers if he didn’t take
any preventive steps but Naidu, who openly declared agriculture was waste,
remained a silent spectator to the increasing of Alamatti Dam height by
Karnataka and construction of Babli project by Maharashtra,” she observed.

Smt. Sharmila said that
Naidu’s 9-year rule was full of scams and people suffered with agricultural
workers migrating to Mumbai and other cities for livelihood and farmers selling
their kidneys to make both ends meet. “With 4000 farmers committing suicide and
students being denied their scholarships during his regime, can Naidu
confidently say he will bring back his TDP rule?” she questioned.

She said Naidu has been
making false promises during his Padayatra while criticizing the Congress
Government. “But he is not coming forward to introduce the no-confidence motion
against the anti-people Congress Government because of his politics of
conspiracy,” she said adding that the former chief minister has been
playing  a big political drama in the
name of Padayatra.
