YSRCP flags Police Interference in Polls

Vijayawada, Oct 27: YSRCP MLC Lella Appireddy and former MLA TJR Sudhakar Babu lodged a complaint with the State Election Commissioner, submitting audio and video evidence of police intimidation, inducements and interference in local-body elections.

Addressing the media, Appireddy demanded the immediate suspension of Gudur DSP Narasimha Murthy and action against Nellore CI Seetharam. He played an audio recording of the DSP contacting YSRCP leader Eddula Narendra Reddy regarding candidate withdrawals. Another recording revealed former Mayor Azeez connecting CI Seetharam with a candidate and discussing monetary inducements.

YSRCP also submitted evidence of a TDP leader dictating instructions to stenographers during nomination appeals at the Anantapur RDO office, masked goons brandishing knives in Nuzvid, and fake nominations filed in YSRCP candidates’ names in Palnadu.

Appireddy condemned the obstruction and rejection of nominations, attacks in Tadipatri and the deployment of outsiders to intimidate voters. He demanded their removal from election areas and immediate action against officials misusing their authority.

Warning police and revenue officials against political interference, Appireddy stressed that YSRCP seeks no special treatment, only free and fair elections. He urged the Election Commission to act before polling concludes, warning that YSRCP would approach the Supreme Court if necessary and pursue legal accountability for electoral misconduct.
