Kakani demands SEC Inquiry into Local body election violence

Nellore, Oct 27:  YSRCP leader and former minister Kakani Govardhan Reddy has urged the State Election Commission (SEC) to investigate reports of attacks, intimidation and forced withdrawals during the local body elections. He said YSRCP had already submitted evidence and called for polling and counting to be conducted fairly.

Speaking at a media conference at the YSRCP district office in Nellore, Kakani said an impartial inquiry would establish the facts and identify those responsible, including officials and political leaders. He questioned what action would follow if the allegations were confirmed.

Kakani said the party had lost confidence in the government and the institutions under its control, and was not assured that polling and counting would be conducted smoothly. He alleged that former ministers, MPs and MLAs had also been attacked. He said YSRCP would not be intimidated and would continue its legal fight to protect candidates’ rights.

He urged the SEC to examine the evidence and take strict action against those involved, regardless of their position. He also asked the District Collector, Superintendent of Police and government to protect people who recorded videos of incidents instead of threatening them with cases.

Kakani called on officials to act independently and ensure free and fair elections. He said the SEC must act impartially to uphold public confidence in the election process.
