Kadapa, Oct 25: Former MLA and YSRCP district president Ravindranath Reddy slammed Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu for turning local body elections into a farce through violence, intimidation and fake nominations. He accused TDP of misleading courts and the public by filing nominations in YSRCP's name.
Speaking at the YSRCP district office, he alleged that TDP workers were attacking candidates, tearing nomination papers and preventing women from contesting across Rayalaseema, Palnadu and Prakasam. He questioned Chandrababu's moral right to continue as Chief Minister despite court interventions.
He alleged that TDP leader Shankarappa filed a nomination as a YSRCP candidate in Ramakuppam, while another was filed in Pushpamma's name in Kuppam.
Ravindranath Reddy questioned the sudden increase in nominations reportedly filed in YSRCP's name. He cited MPTC nomination figures of 5,267, 26,856 and 25,016 across three days, and ZPTC figures of 409, 2,409 and 3,515. He alleged that TDP supporters were filing fake nominations under YSRCP's name to create an impression of fair elections and mislead the courts.
In Kadapa, he alleged fake nominations in 14 ZPTC constituencies. Only 21 of 39 nominations were accepted, while six candidates reportedly faced police-backed obstruction.
He said YSRCP would appeal rejected nominations and demanded impartial action from the Collector. He warned officials against yielding to political pressure and said those involved in irregularities would face legal consequences.
He said Jagan had respected democratic elections and asked what would have happened if YSRCP had followed similar methods.
