Chandrababu using family issues to divert attention from election irregularities: SV Mohan Reddy

Kurnool, Oct 25: YSRCP Kurnool district president SV Mohan Reddy slammed Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu for bringing up YS Sharmila's daughter's wedding to divert public attention from alleged irregularities in the local body elections. He said Chandrababu was resorting to family politics out of fear of electoral defeat.
Speaking at the party office in Kurnool, Mohan Reddy said Chandrababu was discussing personal matters involving YS Jagan Mohan Reddy and his sister Sharmila instead of answering questions raised over the election process and the Supreme Court's intervention.
He said differences between Jagan and Sharmila were personal family matters involving property and marriage arrangements. The Chief Minister should not use them for political gain.
Mohan Reddy questioned the sharp rise in MPTC and ZPTC nominations from 409 on the first day to 2,409 on the second and around 3,300 on the third, followed by a reported total of 57,626 nominations.
He demanded that the Election Commission explain these figures and investigate allegations of obstruction, pressure on opposition candidates and irregular withdrawals.
He said political parties should win through public support, not by preventing opponents from contesting. He urged the government and Election Commission to ensure equal opportunities, transparent elections and public confidence in democracy.
