Congress rushing through Bill: YSRCP
07 Feb 2014 5:57 PM
Hyderabad, Feb 7, 2014:
Coming down heavily on Congress for rushing through the Telangana Bill as if it
is a matter of national urgency, YSR Congress has said that Delhi has been
issuing statements that tantamount to influencing the President by announcing
the time and dates of the legislation.
“Congress has been
over-enthusiastic on the division process and its statements that the Bill will
be tabled in the House on this date amount to influencing the President who is
the Constitutional head and is capable of taking decisions on his own,” party
deputy floor leader Sobha Nagi Reddy told reporters here on Friday.
YSR Congress has been a
strong votary of Samaikyandhra from the beginning and has taken up the issue at
every available forum and our leader YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has met all the
leaders of national and regional parties seeking support.
TDP leader N Chandrababu
Naidu too is meeting national leaders with no purpose at all. He never tells
his party’s stand out while his associates speak in different voices and
ironically Naidu has no specific demand.
“Our leader had
started his second round of meetings with national leaders and he has clarity
unlike Naidu and Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy. From writing letters to
submitting resignations to filing affidavits and sitting on fasts we have taken
up all forms of agitations to keep the state united and we had a firm and
single stand of Samaikyanahdhra.
While TDP leaders are allowed
to speak according to their regional affiliations some even fell at the feet of
Delhi leaders to keep the State united. They should instead convince their
leader to take the stand of a united state, she said.
Congress on the other hand
seems to be very vindictive towards the people of Seemandhra and is taking up
the Bill on a war footing. The Delhi demonstrations of state leaders of
Congress and TDP have belittled the Telugu pride.
We have time and again
asked to the Chief Minister to convene the assembly and pass a resolution
against the division. Our party floor leader YS Vijaymma had also insisted for
such a resolution at the BAC but we were treated as greenhorns.
“The most experienced Chief
Minister and Leader of Opposition has done exactly what we have demanded for
but they were too late and the delay is by design. The two experienced leaders
have opted not to oppose he high command when CWC has taken a decision on
dividing the state but had extended their full cooperation till the Bill is
safely sent back and now Chief Minister offering to quit if the Bill is placed
in the Parliament is a sham.
Digviajay Singh and State
minister Geeta Reddy too have been asking Chief Minister the same question as
to why was the Bill not rejected immediately if they thought it was faulty. Why
was the debate allowed in the first place? We have been telling that
participating in the debate means accepting the division and we were proved
correct. Chief Minister’s true colours were unmasked, she said.
There is no use in Chief
Minister resigning now as he had done all the damage and helped the Centre in
all the tasks. “We did not take part in the Rajya Sabha elections as the party
has taken a stand not to support anyone“she said.
She flayed a section of
press for publishing imaginary stories in the form a dialogue between YS Jagan
Mohan Reddy and Sabbam Hari.
