YSRCP women leaders protest attack on BC leader Uppala Harika

Vijayawada, July 15: YSRCP Women Wing staged a strong protest at Tummalapalli Kalakshetram in Vijayawada condemning the attack on Krishna Zilla Parishad Chairperson and BC leader Uppala Harika by TDP goons. The women leaders paid floral tributes to the statue of Mahatma Jyotirao Phule and submitted a petition praying for wisdom to be granted to Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu, who they said has failed to protect even elected BC women representatives.

The YSRCP women leaders demanded immediate arrest of the culprits, action from the Women’s Commission, and a public apology from CM Chandrababu.

Speaking at the protest, MLC and YSRCP Women Wing President Varudu Kalyani slammed the “Red Book regime,” accusing the government of allowing attacks on women in broad daylight. She questioned the silence of the police and the Women’s Commission despite video evidence circulating on social media. Kalyani said the attack on Harika reflects the collapse of law and order and that CM Chandrababu and Minister Lokesh are giving direct encouragement to such violence.

MLC Kalpalata Reddy also condemned the brutal assault and criticized the filing of counter-cases on the victims. She pointed out the hypocrisy of leaders like Pawan Kalyan and Anitha who made bold statements in the past but remain silent now.

Vijayawada Mayor Rayana Bhagyalakshmi said the attack on Harika is an attack on all women, particularly those from BC communities. She alleged that the TDP-led government is targeting democratic voices and minority groups with repression. Several women leaders and activists participated in the protest.
