*YSRCP Slams Naidu Govt over unpaid Cyclone relief and Farmer Betrayal*

Tadepalli, May 9: YSRCP State spokesperson and former MLA Kaile Anil Kumar launched a scathing attack on the Chandrababu Naidu-led coalition government, demanding that a cheating case under Section 420 be filed against the government for deceiving farmers and failing to provide compensation even six months after Cyclone Montha. Addressing the media at the YSRCP central office in Tadepalli, he said the coalition government had completely abandoned farmers after coming to power and pushed the agriculture sector into deep crisis.

Kaile Anil Kumar said that despite seven Collectors’ Conferences being held in the last two years, there had not been a single serious discussion on farmers’ issues, MSP, or crop losses. Instead, the government remained focused on renaming village secretariats and weakening the RBK system introduced during the YSRCP government. He said Chandrababu Naidu continues to govern with the same anti-farmer mindset of treating agriculture as a burden, while farmers struggle even for gunny bags and urea sacks.

He stated that the coalition government itself had initially reported to the Centre that Cyclone Montha damaged crops in 15 lakh acres across 24 districts, causing losses worth Rs.869 crore. Later, the same government allegedly reduced the damage estimates to 4.27 lakh acres and losses to Rs.390 crore. Even after six months, nearly 3.23 lakh farmers are still waiting for compensation, while more than Rs.1,100 crore in crop loss and drought relief dues remain unpaid. He said the government had promised instant compensation but failed to conduct proper field verification and instead prepared beneficiary lists under political influence.

Kaile Anil Kumar said not a single meaningful pro-farmer initiative had been implemented in two years of coalition rule. Free crop insurance has been scrapped, crop insurance coverage is not being implemented properly, investment support is not reaching all farmers, input subsidy has disappeared, and tenant farmers are being completely ignored. He criticised Agriculture Minister Atchannaidu for remaining on foreign tours while farmers cultivating chickpea, maize, tobacco, black gram, and other crops are suffering without remunerative prices.

He further stated that although the state witnessed 16 natural calamities during the coalition government’s tenure, there was no serious review or support mechanism for affected farmers. In contrast, he recalled that during the YSRCP government, compensation for crop losses was credited directly into farmers’ accounts within the same agricultural season. Between 2019 and 2024, the YSRCP government provided Rs.3,261.60 crore as input subsidy to 34.41 lakh farmers and extended free crop insurance compensation worth Rs.7,802.05 crore to 54.48 lakh farmers without burdening farmers with premium payments. He said Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy stood firmly with farmers from seed to sale through the RBK system, whereas the present coalition government has dismantled that support structure and turned governance into a daily crisis for farmers across the state.
