YSRCP slams govt for axing ration door-delivery

Tadepalli, May 20: The coalition government has dealt a severe blow to the people by terminating the ration door delivery system, a decision finalized in today’s Cabinet meeting at the Secretariat. Effective from June 1, this move will directly impact 10,000 families, pushing them into distress, and the YSR Congress Party strongly condemns this unjust action.
Former Minister for Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs, Karumuri Venkata Nageswar Rao, asserted that this is a deplorable decision that exposes the government’s disregard for the welfare of the common citizen.
Since assuming power, the coalition has systematically dismantled support systems—removing volunteers, displacing families, terminating assistants at government liquor shops, and weakening the Secretariat system by slashing jobs under the guise of rationalization. These actions have stripped livelihoods from thousands, contradicting the coalition’s pre-election promises of creating lakhs of jobs.
The government’s claim that ration delivery vehicles enable corruption lacks evidence. “We demand answers: how many corruption cases have been registered since you took office, and what is the scale of alleged corruption?” questions Rao. Furthermore, the shift to ration distribution solely through shops raises concerns—six cases have already been filed against these shops, prompting fears that the government may eventually shut them down too.
This pattern of governance is not just anti-poor but also anti-progress, leaving families vulnerable and without recourse. The YSR Congress Party will not stand idly by. We call on the coalition government to immediately reverse this disastrous decision. Failure to do so will compel the party to launch a large-scale agitation alongside MDU operators to fight for the rights of the affected. The people deserve better, and we will ensure their voices are heard.
