Pulivendula, June 25: YSRCP General Secretary and former MLA Gadikota Srikanth Reddy demanded that the coalition government stop making unrealistic promises to the people of Rayalaseema and immediately complete the pending irrigation projects, including the Rayalaseema Lift Irrigation Project, Handri-Neeva and Galeru-Nagari. Addressing the media at the party office in Pulivendula, he said the people need water for their fields, not empty promises of prosperity.
Srikanth Reddy stated that the Jonnagiri Gold Mine production processing unit was established during the YSRCP government in 2023 and that the pilot project had already been successfully completed. He said the government was now projecting the mine as a new achievement while ignoring the fact that similar mining activity at Hutti Gold Mines had not transformed the surrounding region. He said Chandrababu Naidu was diverting public attention with exaggerated claims instead of addressing Rayalaseema's irrigation and agricultural crisis.
He said the coalition government had failed in every sector over the past two years, with no major development or welfare initiative to showcase. He stated that Chandrababu had not completed a single irrigation project during his tenure and had abandoned the nearly completed Rayalaseema Lift Irrigation Project after reaching an understanding with Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy. He also criticized the Chief Minister for referring to caste during a public meeting, saying a constitutional office should not be used to justify such remarks.
Srikanth Reddy said the government had shut down the Pulivendula Medical College, shifted equipment meant for the Rayalaseema Lift Project, and deprived the region of institutions including the High Court and AIIMS while claiming to develop Rayalaseema. He said rising debt, attacks on social media activists, deteriorating law and order, and the diversion of public resources towards Amaravati reflected the government's priorities. He asserted that YSRCP would continue its struggle until the pending irrigation projects are completed and justice is delivered to the people of Rayalaseema.
