*Coalition failed BC’s*

Rajamahendravaram, June 25: Former Minister and YSRCP East Godavari District President Chelluboina Srinivasa Venugopal said the Coalition Government has failed to deliver on its promises to Backward Classes (BCs) while neglecting the welfare of traditional communities and weakening law and order in the State. He said Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu’s remarks on toddy had adversely affected toddy tappers’ livelihoods, while the government’s liquor policy was designed to promote brandy sales instead of protecting traditional occupations. He also criticised the implementation of the 10% liquor shop reservation, stating that benamis were operating the business.
Venugopal said the government has failed to implement 34% reservation for BCs in local bodies, has not released the BC caste census, and has not fulfilled promises such as including Kapus in the BC list, providing 100 Assembly tickets to BCs, or appointing a BC Deputy Chief Minister despite BCs constituting 52% of the State’s population. He contrasted this with the Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy government, which appointed 10 BC Ministers, nominated BC leaders such as Pilli Subhash Chandra Bose and Mopidevi Venkata Ramana to the Rajya Sabha, and spent ₹1.73 lakh crore on BC welfare. He further stated that nearly 3 lakh loan applications submitted through BC Corporations remain pending, no funds were allocated for the Adarana Scheme in three budgets, financial assistance has not been released, fee reimbursement arrears have reached Rs. 6,000 crore, Aarogyasri has been weakened, and DWCRA women have not received interest subsidy benefits.
On the Sai Krishna lock-up death, Venugopal termed it a complete failure of governance and said public confidence in the police system has collapsed. He said an FIR was registered only after sustained pressure from the opposition, the concerned Circle Inspector was not immediately arrested, and CCTV footage from the police station had reportedly been unavailable for over a year. He demanded a CBI inquiry into the incident and called upon the Chief Minister to accept moral responsibility and resign.
