YS Jagan exposes Chandrababu’s credit theft

Tadepalli, Oct 23: Former Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy addressed a press conference on Wednesday, unveiling the real story behind the Google–Adani Data Center in Visakhapatnam and exposing what he called “Chandrababu Naidu’s habitual credit chori and publicity politics.”
YS Jagan stated that the Google Data Center project, now being flaunted by the TDP Government as its own achievement, was in fact initiated, planned, and grounded during the YSRCP Government’s tenure.
“In November 2020, during the pandemic, our government allotted land to Adani Group to set up a 300 MW Data Centre in Visakhapatnam. The foundation stone was formally laid on May 3, 2023. Alongside, we also initiated the Subsea Cable Project connecting Singapore and Visakhapatnam, a 3,900 km undersea data corridor, which is the backbone of the entire data network,” he said.
“The subsea cable carries the data, without it, no data centre can exist,” YS Jagan explained. “It was the YSRCP Government, the Centre, the Singapore Government, and the Adani Group who worked together to make this possible. What you are seeing today as the Google Data Centre is nothing but the expansion of that original Adani project.”
He pointed to a Times of India report dated October 11, 2022, which confirmed that Google had taken 4.6 lakh sq. ft. on lease at Adani’s Noida Data Centre, establishing their partnership much before Chandrababu’s tenure. “We even wrote to the Singapore Government on March 9, 2021, seeking its support for laying the subsea cable. Every stage,  from land allotment to foundation laying, happened under our government,” YS Jagan said, showing a copy of the official letter.
He further revealed that Alexander Smith from Google’s Singapore office wrote to IAS officer Katamaneni Bhaskar on October 4, 2025, authorizing land allotments for three Adani Infra entities for the project. “This is clear proof of how deeply Adani and Google are involved. Adani is investing Rs. 87,000 crore (USD 10 billion), one of the largest single private investments in India’s data infrastructure. Yet Chandrababu doesn’t mention Adani or our government once. Why? Because giving credit where it’s due would expose the truth that YSRCP built the foundation for this project.”
Calling Naidu a “habitual credit chor,” YS Jagan said, “This is not new. He did the same in Hyderabad, claiming credit for Cyber Towers that were actually initiated by N. Janardhan Reddy. The real IT revolution came under Dr. Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy between 2004–09, when projects like the Outer Ring Road (126 km), PVNR Expressway (11.6 km), and GMR International Airport were completed. Under YSR, IT exports rose from Rs. 5,660 crore in 2003–04 to Rs. 32,509 crore in 2008–09, and by 2014 reached Rs. 57,000 crore. Today, Telangana’s IT exports stand at Rs. 2 lakh crore, a legacy built by YSR and KCR , not Chandrababu.”

YS Jagan added, “We knew data centres create limited direct jobs, but massive ecosystem opportunities. That’s why our agreement with Adani included 25,000 new jobs, an IT park, skill colleges, and recreation centres. We thought beyond one project — we built an entire ecosystem.”
He outlined how Visakhapatnam’s growth vision was born under YSRCP: “We spent Rs. 900 crore on land acquisition for Bhogapuram International Airport, completed 30% of construction, and secured all clearances. We built Mulapeta Port in Srikakulam, achieving 30% completion. We completed Vijayanagaram and Paderu Medical Colleges, advanced Parvathipuram and Narsipatnam colleges, and finished the Rs. 600 crore Uddanam Kidney Research Centre. Multi-speciality hospitals in Seethampeta and Parvathipuram, the Kurupam Tribal Engineering College, and the Rushikonda High-End Tourism Complex all took shape under our watch. Even road connectivity from Visakhapatnam to Bhogapuram and Mulapeta was planned and cleared by our government.”

“Visakhapatnam’s transformation, from data infrastructure to tourism and industry, is the result of YSRCP’s vision, not Naidu’s slogans,” he asserted. “We turned Visakhapatnam into Andhra’s growth engine, while Chandrababu rebuilds the same Secretariat twice at Rs. 10,000 per sq. ft., wasting Rs. 600 crore, with his media calling it development.”
Concluding, YS Jagan Mohan Reddy said, “Adani is building the structure, Google is adding the technology, and YSRCP built the foundation. Chandrababu’s only contribution is publicity. Facts don’t lie, propaganda does.”
