We Are The First To Announce Rs.5 lakhs Ex-gratia To Home Guards: CM YS Jagan

Vijayawada: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy paid rich tributes to those police who martyred on this day and recalled their families' whose countless sacrifices and unparalleled commitment that is keeping our country and state safe.

Speaking at a ceremony held on the occasion of the Police Commemoration Day, held at Indira Gandhi Stadium in Vijayawada on Monday, YS Jagan Mohan Reddy said that the policing system importance would be enhanced only the when the poor would be able to go home with a smile on their face when justice is delivered without discrimination.

Speaking further, the Chief Minister said that knowing the fact that police force is toiling hard for the safety of the public, the State government has decided to enhance the salaries of the home guards from Rs 18,000 to Rs 21,000 . He also announced that the State was the first in the country to announce an ex gratia of Rs 5 lakhs if a home guard were to die on duty. The insurance coverage facility has also been provided for the police officials. In case of death of home guards on duty the amount was Rs. 30 lakh and upon death of the police, the amount was 40 lakh as insurance coverage. The insurance coverage is also applicable to retired staff, he said.

The Chief Minister also congratulated the Home Minister M Sucharitha and State DGP Gautam Sawang for their efforts in this matter. The police should strive for a better society, and the State government would support them in all aspects, he said.

YS Jagan also took note of the fact of how hard the police in the State were working and hence declared weekly- off option for them. This was something done for the first time in the country, he mentioned.

The Chief Minister also gave call to wage war on bribery, corruption, and rowdyism in the State and that the police force should strive to work for a commendable police system in the State.
